Transition to Management

Overview

In this workshop, the managers work through a range of exercises to understand the impact and importance of management in their company. Each manager will have an opportunity to develop appropriate techniques to engage with team members and peers focusing on diversity in the workplace. New managers may request additional 1 on1 support in the first 6-8 weeks after the workshop. It is critical to coach new managers in the skills of management and leadership so they have confidence in their new role.

 

Outcomes

At the completion of this program, the participants will be able to:

  • Demonstrate effective and positive management styles

  • Develop techniques to transition from peer to manager including setting clear objectives and discussing expectations with team members

  • Manage change in a diverse workplace

  • Manage conflict, notice early warning signs and develop early intervention strategies

  • Develop techniques for addressing and managing conflict
